Life Is Brilliant.

Born in Massachusetts, I moved to New Hampshire with my family as a disgruntled teen. Funny, but I’ve never left. I guess I just figure if it’s good enough for Donald Hall and John Irving, well, who am I to complain? I’m a daughter, wife, mom, and owner of a menagerie of really messed up animals. I love them all desperately. Especially my family.

I ardently believe eclectic is not a dirty word, especially when it comes to publishing. Over the years, I’ve written nonfiction including freelance articles, local columns, essays, and reviews. My work has appeared in publications as varied as The Derry News, Big Apple Parent, and As We AreMy poetry has appeared and placed in competitions such as Artella’s Passion Poetry Contest and William Faulkner/William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition.

My passion is crafting fiction, however. Especially literary flash fiction. The unique challenge of creating a complete and moving story in a limited number of words fascinates me.  I'm firmly convinced brevity is a beautiful thing. My stories have been accepted by a diverse group of publications from GUD: Greatest Uncommon Denominator and Flash Me Magazine toThe Chick Lit Review.

But then there are my novels. They are my mom’s fault because every Sunday she watched romantic comedies. So I grew up immersed in the films of Rock Hudson, Carey Grant, and  Doris Day.  What can I say? I adore Audrey Hepburn. Has that influenced my novel writing? Absolutely. It’s important to me to write about the things that matter: laughter, love, family, and my home state. And of course, excellent food. Especially anything chocolate.

Because of this I want my novels to entertain. I want the reader to sink into them and just escape. Mostly I want people to laugh and enjoy them and remember what exactly is so brilliant about life. When gas prices are through the roof, the economy is tanking, and our country is at war...sometimes it's good to be reminded.

I hope you agree...
